The hotel has outstanding debts to United Bulgarian Bank. The starting price is set at 44.4 million leva and bids will be accepted until September 9.
Rodina Tourist, which owns the hotel in the center of Bulgaria's capital city, was privatized by a management-and-employee company in 1997. Currently 96% of the capital is held by El-Mi.
Rodina is one of the biggest hotels in Sofia. It has 500 rooms on 18 floors and 50,000 sq. m total floorage. This includes an underground parking lot, sports facilities, a conference center and a restaurant section. An adjoining plot of 6,000 sq. m is also part of the offer.
